AITU, Cook Island
"April 2003 - AITU airport i very small, flights are about three times a week and the children excitedly run and jump around on the airstrip when a flight is due.  The security is a humourous sign asking you to hand in your uzis and nukes to the pilot upon boarding.  The baggage handling is a large guy called Earthquake, the aminities are a couple of benches shaded by palm trees outside the hut and check in time is usually about ten minutes before the plane lands. This airport would be impossible to sleep in however - but only because if a local found you here they would invite you back to their home to sleep; the Cook Islanders are a friendly bunch."
