Donna's Favourites (1999)

October 1999 - I was reminded of how an airport's toilets are a portrait of the airports themselves.  Irish Neil wrote that while passing through Yemen (an airport with 2 toilets), both were backed up with diarrhea.  Sorry....I couldn't let that gem go without a mention.  Permission to turn your heads in horror.

August 1999 - During the August 28 update, I had to laugh when one contributor had trouble sleeping in the Brussels airport, so he retreated to the bathroom to smoke his last souvenir from Amsterdam to make the night a little more enjoyable....only to have to flush it when the cleaning staff came in.  Another favourite is the tip from Tim McGuigan, who had the misfortune of staying in LaGuardia (land of bucket seats and arm rests).  Luckily for him, he had brought along his screwdriver so he removed those dreadful armrests and was able to stretch out.  Before September 11, 2001 I would have packed my own screwdriver...now I certainly will not.
