CHENNAI, India (Contributed by Donna Connelly)
"January 2002 - I've been through the Chennai airport about 4 times and just like nearly every other airport in India, it's a fortifying experience! People are EVERYWHERE, standing around, staring at you, asking for money, bribing you, trying to rip you off... Jolly good times, eh? The bathrooms are definitely the most terrifying aspect of this airport. They stink to high heaven, and there is NEVER any toilet paper, paper towels or air freshener. The bathroom has a 'guard' lady who stands in there for what I suspect the sole purpose being to ask you to pay her to stand there as you try to leave. Sometimes it's almost threatening, as though she might lock you in there for eternity if you don't give her some money, and let me tell you something; I'd rather give her every last cent than be stuck in one of those bathrooms for any longer than ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!!!! Overall, it's a pretty crummy airport." (Added 14 MAY 04)
