Kunming Airport

Kunming's Wujiaba airport (the old one) is scheduled for retirement in 2012. For now, the terminal is showing its age. International check-in area has limited seating (for about 100), a hot/cold drinking water-dispenser, internet, and washrooms. Domestic check-in is divided ... how confusing! A security guard patrols regularly, the floors are shiny and clean... but I wouldn't sleep on them! We were told that overnight, the terminal is cleared and then closed after the last flights, re-opening at 5AM. There is a clean, comfortable (Chinese) 3* hotel across the road. Walk out of the departures area, through the parking-lot entrance/exit and there it is: Kunming Airport Hotel. Rooms are about 470RMB for a twin room with private bathroom, Chinese breakfast buffet served from 6AM - 10AM.
