Kunming is the capital of Yunnan province, and the airport is near downtown. Friends meeting incoming flights can see you through the glass wall that separates baggage claim from the arrivals hall. Even with signs in English, the departure hall was a bit confusing; glad I had a Chinese friend with me. Airport is probably not a place to sleep, but once you get past security there is comfortable seating. A few shops. Tea is the best known product from Kunming; it's pricey at the airport but an excellent souvenir.
