"Mandalay's international airport has only one or two international flights a week ...built at a cost of millions by the billionaire generals who run Myanmar (formerly Burma). So how could I pass up the weekly flight from Chiang Mai (Thailand) on Air Mandalay? The terminal is vast and sprawling. The 18 passengers got through customs and immigration lickety-split. Then there was the issue of do we convert real dollars into Burmese foreign exchange certificates? For a small bribe, you don't have to. Lots of touts and taxi drivers waiting outside for the hour-plus drive through fields and small villages into Mandalay. A highly recommended experience!!!"
