"I was travelling back after my stay in Nagoya this December and very unfortunately, just as we were called to board our plane it starting snowing outside- a snowfall rate of which was unusual for that region. The airport was not prepared and didn't have snow ploughs and such so all flights were delayed. We ended up camping out at the airport the entire day (my flight was supposed to be in the morning but we only flew in the night).I would say the overall appearance and feel of the transit area wasn't too bad... the Japanese really do a superb job at keeping the place up.(This is the new Chubu airport which opened March 2005) HOWEVER, the whole area was really small seeing that it was not meant to be a major stopever transit kind of airport. The place became crowded with everyone waiting for their flights, and the seats, though cushioned, were cold and difficult to sleep on.. with arm rests separating them. In the end we did manage to grab some sleep in the far ends of the terminal away from where the crowd was congregating, and we stole some sleep on the carpeted floors. There was also a business corner on the other side with free connections to the internet, but that was only if you had your own laptop. Foodwise, there were NO restaurants where you could get a proper meal. Only one or two cafes to grab snacks. but by midday most of it had been bought up by hungry people and the supplies were not replenished. TVs only showed the news- in Japanese and we could do nothing else but try to decipher the news about when the snow was going to stop.At the end of the day when we finally got on our flight we were pretty relieved to be out of there... but I wouldn't say it was all THAT BAD because it was generally clean and pleasant. Hey, I have been to other airports where such a delay would have been an unimaginable experience...."

"Ran out of Yen and decided to stay at the airport - which turned out to be the worst decision I ever made. For starters, the airport closes - it actually CLOSES at night 'bout 9pm. So, you get hurried out by both the security and airport staff after which they turn off the lights leaving you in the darkness. Fortunately, there is a police station which is open 24 hours (though they do also drive off for tea in the middle of the night) - and it is also from there that you get some decent amount of light. For company, you have cockroaches and mosquitoes apart from the occasional speedster - the airport being right smack in the middle of nowhere. If you can take hard floor for a bed with no security, nagoya airport is quite an adventure for the uninitiated!"
