To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Palembang Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport.
What to Expect
The recently built Palembang Airport (code: PLM) is divided into Domestic and International Terminals. Amenities include designated rest areas, free WiFi, and a variety of shops and eateries offering local and Western fare, though everything shuts down by 10:00 PM. Economy class passengers can pay to enter one of three airport lounges. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for location and access information.
Sleeping in Palembang Airport
We do not yet have any sleep-related airport reviews, but it seems this airport closes nightly, so overnight stays are not possible. In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Thirsty? There is a water bottle refill station available Airside in the Domestic Terminal.
Food & Drinks
Over 20 restaurants/coffee shops are available at the airport. All restaurants are open 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM. A few options are: A & W Restaurant • Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf • Roti – O • Starbucks. Vending machines (drinks) are also available.
Luggage Storage & Lockers
The airport offers safe deposit boxes, but specific information on their location is not available.
Mobile Charging
A free mobile charging station (with room to charge 12 devices) is available in the Domestic Terminal, Airside.
Rest & Relaxation Zones
Comfortable lounge chairs can be found in the airport’s dedicated Rest Areas. Location: Domestic and International Terminals, Airside. Hours: 5:00AM – 12:00AM. The airport also has “Memorable Corners” available throughout the terminals (4 locations), featuring art, benches and a nice place to read a book.
Take precautions even when sleeping in the rest zones. In December 2019, a traveller at another airport reported that money and credit cards had been stolen from their bag even though the bag was right beside them. Protect and lock your bags as you would sleeping elsewhere in public.

WiFi/Internet
Free unlimited WiFi is available at Palembang Airport. Connect to the “PLM-airport@ap2.co.id” network. If you do not have a mobile device, you can find free internet terminals Airside (in both Terminals).

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so check your bank’s fee schedule and daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Location: Landside, 1st and 2nd Floor • Airside, Domestic Boarding Lounge, 2nd Floor.
Baby Care Facilities – If you are travelling with an infant, there is a baby care room for breastfeeding and diaper changing. Location: Airside, Domestic Terminal. Hours: 5:00AM – 12:00AM.
Children’s Play Area – When you want to ensure your kids burn off all their energy before their flight, take them to the children’s play area. Location: Airside, in both the Domestic and International Terminals.
Currency Exchange – Bank Mandiri and Bank Sumsel Babel both do currency exchange. Both are located on the first floor. 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Duty-Free & Shopping – Duty-Free shopping will soon be available. At the time of this update, there were approximately 12 shops available (Landside and Airside); most are convenience-style shops (Circle K, Indomaret, etc.), which may come in handy for any last-minute needs.
Information Desk – Have any questions? There is an information desk available to provide assistance! Location: Landside. Hours: 5:00AM – 12:00AM. There is also a Tourist Information Office and Customer Service Office to help. Location: Arrivals. Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Luggage Carts – Need a hand with your bags? Baggage carts are available free of charge beside the baggage carousels.
Luggage Porters – Provided through Jasa Porter service.
Luggage Wrapping -Protect your bags from theft and damage by having them wrapped in plastic by Securitech. Location: Check-in area. Hours: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM. Rates: Rp 50.000.
Massage – Unwind before your flight with a massage Refleksi. Location: Airside, Domestic Departures Area, 2nd Floor. Rates: RP 50.000 – 100.000 / hour. Hours: 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM. Massage chairs are also available. Location: Airside, Domestic Departures Area, 2nd Floor. Rates: 30.000 / 15 mins.
Pharmacy – Kimia Pharmacy – Location: 2nd Floor, Sky Bridge. Hours: 5:00 AM – 10:00 PM.
Prayer Room – Location: Domestic Terminal, Airside. Hours: 5:00AM – 12:00AM.

Smoking Area – The airport has designated smoking areas Airside in both terminals. These are enclosed rooms with seating areas and tables.
Car Rentals
Car rental services are available on-site. TRAC Astra Rent a Car organizes all car rentals at the airport. Their office is located in the arrivals hall.

Metered taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area.
Train
The airport is connected to the surrounding areas via train. The airport links to a variety of destinations before reaching Djka Station. Rates: RP. 10,000. Hours of service: 6:15 AM – 5:59 PM.
