"I have found that the airport in Barbados is a fantastic place to spend a night. It is far better to sleep outside of the 'enclosed' area where only ticketed passengers are allowed (you cannot leave this area once you have gone in!) The airport is very safe and nobody troubles you. The whole thing (except for the departure lounge for ticketed passengers and the arrival hall) is open to the outdoors and the trees & trade winds are great! (don't worry - you won't get rained on - it's not that open) There are many nooks and crannies, and places to walk around. The bathrooms are relatively clean. The only drawbacks are that the food places are not open all night, and looking like you are camping (sleeping bags, etc) seems to get you unnecessary attention. There is a local 'rum shop' across the street where you can get a great (cheep) local snack (fish cutter and 'Banks' beer!) The local people are very friendly and helpful, as well as very humorous! Lovely airport and country!!!!!"

My name is Andre i'm brazilian, 20 years old. I spent 3 nights on this airport because of unfair discrimination! I arrived from jamaica on feb 5th i was backpacking on the caribbean and had a lot of fun! The immigration officer made several questions about my visit to barbados and was very suspicious about me because i just arrived from jamaica, they brought me to a small room and there were dogs to smell my bags after that 2 cops made several questions such as: do you use drugs? are you bringing drugs to barbados? and what i was doing in jamaica etc... they used to yell at me calling me a liar, after all that scene they x-rayed my things and saw that i was CLEAN!!!! but still they had me to wait on a cell inside the airport for my flight to Georgetown in Guyana (3 nights later)... finally i went to guyana but i'll never forget such thing... i shared the cell with 3 guys from guyana the food provided was too spicy i could not eat at all... the officers are rude and scream all the time and ignore your basic requests! its too cold inside and you cant call family or consulate unless you bag them all the time... WATCH OUT!
