What to Expect

George Town Airport (code: GCM) first opened in 1952, but since then, the airport has undergone many renovations. In March 2019, the airport unveiled its recently expanded terminal building. Now, the airport provides passengers with an upgraded shopping area, additional dining options, new baby care facilities and WiFi!

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Location: Landside, in the check-In area.

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty free shopping is available within the departure lounge. There is a small variety of retail concessions selling souvenirs, snacks and magazines located within both the main terminal and departure lounge.

Food & Drinks – At the time of this update, there are no 24-hour dining options. There is one dining option at the airport: The Hungry Horse, a full-service restaurant. Location: 2nd Floor, landside. Hours: 6:00AM – 6:00PM.

Information Desk – Mainly a tourism desk for the island, but they can answer general questions about the airport too. Hours: 11:00AM – 9:00PM.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Medical Services – Security Officers at the airport can provide basic First Aid services and contact medical authorities if needed.

Post Office – A mailbox is available in the passenger check-in area (landside).

Rest Zones – There are no dedicated sleeping areas, quiet areas or rest zones. If this information has changed, click here to update this guide.

Smoking – Smoking is prohibited anywhere inside the terminal.

Taxis

The taxi stand is located outside the Arrivals area. Fares are pre-set, and the taxi service will provide a ticket that identifies the licensed cab driver, destination, and fare.
