"me & my friend Stefano landed in Maceio MCZ Airport at 1.00 AM on 28 Sept 2006 and we were in the main lobby at about 1.30 AM.
It was the first time for us in Brazil, we did not reserve any accomodation in advance for we like to be free to choose & change the itinerary of our travels whenever we like, and it was really late. Brazialins are very helpful people which are more concerned about security that the stantard Wester traveler so actually local folks told us not to go to Maceio at this late hour because it is defenitely dangerous.
As a consequence we decided to stay at the airport and it was quite a good experience: the airport is small, clean, with few people around and no beggars at all. It also has a fast food, a bar and some shops which are open 24 7. We just slept on the floor of the 2nd storey which is the panoramic viewspot of the airport: at this late hour there were no people around and we had a great sleep.
