"If you are the type of person who'd rather see the country than be herded with thousands into the secure compounds of all-inclusive hotels, then you will probably never see Punta Cana airport. A pleasant collection of grass roofed huts in the tropics, does its best to accommodate the masses that arrive by air-conditioned tourbus. Those who are returning from other parts of the to fly out are SOL on the other hand. Especially if the first of the twice daily busses from Santo Domingo arrives at 1030 AM and your flight is not until 20:45 PM. When asked about baggage storage, a security guard laughed and said "this happens every day to those coming from the capital.", and then kindly directed me to a patch of grass between the parking lot and the terminal. Other seating is non existent until behind security. There are two food options of dubious quality aside from providing bottles of the coldest beer ever. Bathrooms are acceptable. Not much going on here as far as airport extras and nobody will bat an eye to your lounging on the grass."
