'SUN JAM 2010' In a city that's dangerous, hostel and armed, the airport on the other hand, is security guard free and on the safer side. Middle of the night arrival? Save the hassle. Throw a bag in the middle of the terminal (its a very small terminal) on the planter platform. There's a lot of older building construction and dust. But hey..your a backpacker in a 3rd world country, deal with it. The worst part? They play crappy music all night.
Safe travels!

"I was flying back to New Orleans from Costa Rica, with the flight itinerary from hell (that's what I get for buying the cheapest possible tickets). The itinerary included an overnight stop in San Pedro Sulas. I talked customs into letting me stay in the airport, since I was only there in transit to New Orleans. An employee was helpful in leading me to a lobby where I could sleep. I grabbed a spot on the floor, since the seats all had armrests. After finally falling asleep, I was awaken multiple times by someone yelling in the distance. Not the most comfortable situation, but considering I avoided the cost of A): cab fare, B): hotel, C): exit tax, it was well worth it!P.S. There was free coffee in the morning for passengers waiting in the terminal. That is definitely a plus. "
so, just how bad is this airport?
