"First of all - let me just mention, that the Isle of Arran is always worth a trip. Beautiful landscape, nice youth-hostels, quite good food (compared to the rest of Britain) and nice people (compared to those in Glasgow).
On our last day we had to check out early, about 9 a.m., and spend the last few hours at Brodick, a nice town, actually the only settlement on Arran that is big enough to be called a town.
Unfortunately as soon as we entered Brodick by bus, heavy rain started. Having spent our last pounds in some pubs the night before, we did not even dare to look for a restaurant or cafe. So we had no other choice than to take refuge in Brodick's Ferry Terminal, that is actually much smaller than any pub I had visited in Scotland.
To my surprise, it was quite a good choice. Comfortable seats, no armrest, so you can stretch out and have a better sleep than in most youth-hostels. Quite a clean place including the toilets. Warm colours all around you give a slight feeling of coming home. An nearby Fast-Food-Restaurant provides you with food, while you can buy soft-drinks ( you have to try the ginger-ale) inside the terminal. After having slept for about 3 hours, I spent the left time in the nearby souvenir-shops, or standing outside under a roof smoking... very nice place, to wait for a ferry!"
