In 2007 I had the opportunity to spend the night at the train station in Copenhagen. It was not so bad. The biggest disadvantage is that the station building was closed for about two-three hours in the middle of the night, so the security asked me to leave.
Until that time (at about 2-3 a.m.) it was pretty tolerable. There are a lot of homeless people and travelers and it is quite noisy. I've seen some people sleeping in sleeping bags on the floor, but I am afraid that they were also just homeless. Inside the building there are several kiosks and bars where you can buy food or coffee. BTW I'll never forget face of a homeless guy who bought coffee with milk there - he looked as if he was the happiest man in the world:)
I felt pretty safe. If you already have some experience in traveling, spending the night there won't be big difficulty.
