"The entry for 'Dublin Port' (by Verne, is ERRONEOUS,it does NOT describe the terminal at DUBLIN PORT but the ferry terminal at DUN LAUGHOIRE several miles south of the city, eg. he/she writes of a 'nice view of the harbour' (there is a harbour at Dun Laughoire, but none at Dublin Port, which is on the river Liffey, in Dublin).
I have not slept at either, but if the weather is warm and dry Dublin Port has some quiet grassy areas outside the building, whereas Dun Laughoire is something of a concrete jungle. but a sleep over here is UNNECCESSARY as
Dublin Port offers the option of the litle-known, and little used, OVERNIGHT 'NORSE MERCHANT FERRIES' service to Liverpool (Birkenhead). The ship leaves at 9 pm and a cabin (with shower) plus an evening meal and breakfast are included in the very cheap fare. It arrives in the UK at a conveniant 6 am.
When I used this service in 2005 tickets had to be booked by telephoning the companies office in Belast (none on sale at port itself), though this may have changed. There are also two other ferry companies which sail from Dublin Port (P&O, and Irish ferries)."
