"If you arrive here in the Winter off season, you might be in for a surprise. My train arrived here from Puigcerda, Spain at 8pm and I was rather reluctant to pay the 280 Francs at the Terminal Hotel, so I walked the 2km into town to find a cheaper place. Unfortunately later in the night, I found out that the only place open in town is the severely overpriced Terminal Hotel. To add insult to injury, the train station is also closed and firmly locked until 8pm! So, the only real option (other than turning into a french popsicle in the Pyranese winter is to go into one of the parked cars of the Train Petite Jaune. The vinyl seats are rather unpleasant and at times downright miserable due to the lack of the crucially needed heat for human existence in the winter climate. But, hey -10 without wind is much better than -12 with wind! So, if you have a heavy winter sleeping bag, you'll do fine. Otherwise, you're in for a real cold and chilly night. If that extortionately priced hotel was still open after 8.30pm, I'd rather go against my cheapo nature and would spend the night there rather than repeat another horrifically cold night in the train."
