tell us how much this station rocked!

"I went to Oktoberfest with a friend and, of course, we got separated. I gave up looking for him around 1am and went to the hbf with the intent of getting back to Augsburg and my warm hotel bed. According to the DB staff there wouldn't be a train until 6:45 am. I decided to make the best of it at the station. At first I went to the Burger King on the upper level. There were probably 200 people in the BK alone. At this point they were only making whoppers and fries. They didn't look too appetizing either. There was no place to sit, inside or out, or any where in the main hall (this includes the floor). It was just a mass of drunk and passed out people. I decided to brave the cold in the train barn. There I sat munching fries and freezing. It had rained all night and I was soaking wet. After eating, the combination of fatigue and alcohol finally did me in and I passed out sitting straight up on a metal bench. Every seat was filled on that bench too. Did I mention it was uncomfortable? Still I slept. I was rough shape, but my friend was worse off. He had made it to Augsburg on an earlier train, but couldn't remember what hotel we were staying at or how to get there. He headed in the wrong direction and spent the whole night walking around in the rain. Finally he convinced a taxi driver to take him to all the hotels in the center city for 10 Euro. This turned out to be quite a bargain. At about 10am he came walking in the door. He said he decided to get a taxi after he noticed all the Germans were pointing and staring at him. He looked like he'd peed his pants. What's sad is that we were within 50 yards of each other at the station in Munich and again in Augsburg. In conclusion, I would not recommend staying overnight in the Munich hbf during Oktoberfest. It was cold, dirty, noisy and a bit scary. But it was better than what happened to my fellow traveler. Not only was he soaking wet, but he had blisters the size of golf balls on his heals. "
