What to Expect

santander airport guideSantander Airport (code: SDR) has a small, modern terminal that handles domestic and low-cost routes. Amenities include an airside cafe, a landside eatery, a couple shops, and free WiFi.

Sleeping in Santander Airport

It seems that this airport closes nightly, so overnight stays may not be possible. Have a backup plan if you’re staying overnight. For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are nearby. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs, operated by Santander and Euronet, are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Floor 0, Check-In Area • Floor 0, Arrivals Area.

Baggage Trolleys – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage trolleys are available.

Children’s Play Area – When you want to ensure your kids burn off all their energy before their flight, take them to the children’s play area. Location: Ground Floor, airside.

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free shopping is available (Airside. Hours: unknown) as well as a Come & Fly convenience store (Landside. Hours: Depending on flight schedules).

Food & Drinks – There are no 24 hour options available. You will find: La Galeria (Location: Airside, Ground Floor. Hours: 7:30AM – 11:30PM) and Coffee and Bakery (Landside, Hours: depends on flight schedules). Vending machines are also available on both floors.

Information Desk – If you have any questions, the airport has an information desk which can provide assistance! Location: Ground Floor, Landside.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Medical Services – There are two Automated External Defibrillators (AED), one in the main hall, landside, and one in the airside.

Mobile Charging – Mobile charging stations are available throughout the terminal.

Post Office – Drop off your last minute postcards to friends and family from airport’s mailbox. Location: Ground Floor, in the Main Hall, Landside.

Police Station – Available on the ground floor, landside and airside.

Showers – Not available.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Bus

Bus service is available between SDR airport and Santander, with departures available every 30 minutes from 7:00AM – 11:00PM. Alsa offers scheduled service between the airport and major cities in northern Spain, such as Bilbao, Gijón, Oviedo and Laredo. Tickets are sold online or via automated ticket machines in the Arrivals hall.

Car Rentals

The following car rental agencies are available onsite: Avis/Budget • Enterprise • Europcar • Hertz • Ok Rental Car • Sixt. Location: Floor 0.
