St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport
In this section you will find traveller airport reviews as well as our St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport Guide with info on WiFi, lounges, facilities and services....and yes, even the names of some airport hotels in case you decide that sleeping in the airport is not for you!
It is a small and outdated airport, but not too bad.

I had the "pleasure" of spending approximately 7 hours waiting in the ST. Pete's airport for a flight to Warsaw, Poland. I think next time I would rather WALK! The entrance area to the airport is a very small area with NO amenities! (I think there are 2-3 travel agency type places, a currency exchange, and single coffee shop serving a few small pastries.)
You are not allowed out of this waiting area until your flight is "posted" for departure - which is usually about 1 hour pre-boarding. At that time you will need to pass security. (Don't speak to the armed guard who checks your ticket. He does not speak English -- or will not -- and we saw him charge several people fees - aka bribes -- to let them through.) Once through, you will have to pay any over limit fees, or upgrade fees in rubles, so be sure you have them!! (The only ATM is OUTSIDE security, and if you've already passed security once it is a PAIN to get back through -- and you'll need extra rubles to pay the guard. Also, most of the places will not take your credit card to pay the fees -- they require cash, and do NOT speak English well.)
If you make it through customs (keep your head down and walk with purpose), you'll have a short time in the "shopping area" filled with Duty Free stores and food -- but your plane will be about to board by this point, so don't count on enjoying it! (Remember, you only get about an hour post-security!) To top it off, you'll have to go through a second security screening at your gate -- on the other side of which there is literally nothing but a small SMALL room with hardbacked chairs (with armrests) and a plane load full of people!
If you're lucky enough to have a first class ticket (I was), the first class lounges are comfortable and well stocked - but again, you only have an hour, tops, so not enough time to really rest.
All in all -- STAY AWAY!!
