Not bad

by Arkantos (May, 2009)

Where: Landside and Airside

A very small airport but considering the whole city, the airport is more than sufficient as i found out later there are only 2 to 3 flight movements per day all to and from mainland india. The airport was clean compared to the other indian airports. Airport is not crowded and enough seating available. Air conditioner was non existent (having gone there in the middle of winter, didnt have much problem with it )The staff was friendly but not even a single soul knew english.

Hot as Hell!!!!

by ammasgold (March, 2008)

Reason for Stay: Other
Where: Landside

Andaman Island is part of India, but unlike India, it's very clean and virtually pollution-free. But, just like mainland India, it's EXTREMELY hot and humid (around 100 degrees), especially in March when I was there. I was horrified to discover that the airport had NO airconditioning in the check-in area when I was flying back to mainland India! It was hotter than a furnace! I was dripping in sweat. There were ceiling fans high above, but they had no effect at all. Plus, it was really crowded with a ridiculously long and slow-moving line for the security check. Thank goodness the actually gate area is airconditioned. But just getting through the security check line took over an hour which seemed like an eternity. It was pure torture.
