| Quite good, do not worry about | | daniel.stastny, 7/23/2009 | | Rome Fiumicino is quite far away from the city center - in case of changing the flight there you have to decide whether to look for a hostel somewhere (actually there are possibly some hostels around the airport but making the decision along with having no similar previous experience was easy the night). My plan was travel to Umbria region but I arrived to Fiumicino about 22:00 so there was no way to start my journey - moreover there was a good train connection via Rome Tiburtina early in the morning departing right from the airport. Hence I stayed there. I checked over the hall (on the side of check-in counters) and finally the first floor seemed to be convenient. There slept most of the travellers. Some of them even under spacy blankets being in a deep sleep - with no regard to their luggages! Maybe they are of them who rely on others who don't sleep at the time. I counted about 20 sleepers. Some of the benches do not have the arms. I slept about 4 hours in the sitting position bearing on my backpack. Btw: during the night everything is closed except one small cafebar in the first floor. There is even the electic-socket so I could use it for a work (do not forget to take delicious Latte Macchiatto) - but remember you need a converter! Cafebar has sockets of the norm CEI 23-16/VII (Italian 16 A/250 V) - the 'bigger one' (in Italy they use also a 'smaller one' of 10 A). Paid Wi-Fi was available (I did not use it). |
