| Sleeping in Berlin Tegel | | Allen212, 7/30/2009 | We slept at Berlin Tegel Airport in July 2009, due to an early flight the next morning (check-in at 5:00am). Most flights end around midnight, and about 30 min. later the airport managers sweep through the airport and send everyone there to Terminal D, which is 20 yards away from the main terminal (A,B,C). They were polite but firm and spoke German first and English second. Terminal D has a few bucket seats but lots of floor space on relatively clean linoleum floors. There are clean restrooms in Terminal D. We had planned ahead and brought air mattresses. It was relatively quiet except for some coughing, so we slept quite well for the few hours. We counted 25 other travelers in there overnight. If you need to stay there, I'd do this: go to terminal D first and pick your best spot (probably away from others who might cough or snore). Have something to sleep on: coat, mattress, blanket, or whatever, because the floor is probably your best bet. Personally, we'd sleep there again given a early flight--easier than figuring out 4am train schedules from who knows where in Berlin. Allen S. and Ben S. |
