"I managed to get my sorry butt to this airport after being told I had a 8 day wait in Toronto for a trip back to Newfoundland. I managed to get standby to St John with a flight to Halifax the next morning.. The airport is as small as I have ever been in.. a dirty little coffee shop, 2 gates, and 3 arcade machines.. I spent the night as the only traveller in the airport along with 1 security guard and a single cleaner.. I spent half my night playing on a wonderfully upkept Galaga and a not so well cared for PacMan machine, the other on a fairly comfortable row of seats near the check-in counter.. as said by others, make sure you have the cash to pay the airport tax.. I was lucky but it drained my last reserves of cash to get on to Halifax.. Overall a comfortable airport with good armrestless seats to stretch out on"

"With only two measly gates, and a magazine rack by the greasy counter of the Airport Lounge, this airport is puny. But it does have a massive labyrinth of bulky maroon vinyl couches that would be perfect for a long nap. Then again, it's not too likely that you'll ever have a long delay - the flights are just short commutes. But since the seats on those CanadAir jets are 3 inches thick and rock solid, you'll probably want to nap BEFORE you board."

so, just how bad is this airport?
