"I had the very bright idea of travelling overnight from Montreal to Niagara Falls to save money on a night in a hostel. I didn't check into the stop over in Toronto all that carefully, and discovered in Kingston that I would be arriving at 3.30 am, and that my connection was not until 6.45. Thankfully I had read this webpage and was prepared for the terminal to be closed.
The Bus driver was most helpful in pointing out a 24 hour cafe across the road from the closed bus terminal when we arrived at 3.30 am. The Bus Terminal opens at 5am, and it was a long wait with other passengers and a few homeless guys who couldn't get beds in the nearby shelters. I don't think I would have liked to be alone and waiting in the area. There were about 5 other passengers waiting with me.
When the terminal opened at 5, I found only seats with armrests, so put my big backpack on the seat next to me and fell asleep for an hour. My neck was sore when I woke up, but the rest was good. I think there may have been announcements, but not too loud. I felt a lot safer when more passengers had arrived, and by 6.30 it was crowded and quite noisy.
I would hate to be waiting by myself outside the closed terminal in the early hours with all the locals."
