What to Expect
Tuxtla Airport (code: TGZ) has a small, newly-built terminal. Facilities are very limited, but the good news is there’s free WiFi. Sleeping in Tuxtla Airport
The airport closes nightly from around 11:30PM until 4:00AM so it is not possible to stay overnight inside the terminal. Minibus
Travel like the locals do! If your load is light, you can travel at a fraction of the price of a taxi by taking a “colectivo” (shared-ride minibus), which pass along a road just a short walk from the airport parking lot.
Taxis
Prepaid taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation areat. There are four different taxi companies, named by color: Blue, Orange, Red and Green. Stop at the Prepaid Taxi booth in the Arrivals hall to pay for your ride. You will receive a ticket to give to your taxi driver before boarding the taxi. To return to the airport, call “Blue Taxis”. At the time of this update, a one-way journey from the airport to the hotel zone takes 45 minutes and costs about 350 Pesos ($24.00 US approximately).
