"After catching the latest possible bus from Auckland to Hamilton Bus Terminal [around 8pm] we were met here by our pre-booked airport shuttle bus to Hamilton Airport. This avoided any expensive taxi rides. There is an airport motel and our driver was very surprised when we told him we wouldn't be staying there but in the terminal. Having previously scoped out the terminal and made inquiries as to its opening hours [24hrs] we were directed to the small upstairs television area. There were a few comfy benches and the lights and tv can be turned off easily. The cleaners and security staff were also a bit surprised we were sleeping here but didn't seem to care or hassle us. There were a couple of other punters around but they seemed to be there to pickup early arriving passengers. At around 6am we were woken by the chorus of singing Pacific Islanders as they waited to board another early flight. After this lovely arousal we just browsed the papers at the small newsstand until our 8am flight to Melbourne. As there are cheap international [Freedom Air] flights from Hamilton I would stay here again, especially as an alternative to flying to/from Auckland."
