"The train from Winton (which is basically a cattle train with a dilapidated old brake van on the back) arrives and terminates in Hughenden approx 2am. The railway station is miles from any accommodation, but there are a couple of old fashioned wooden slatted benches on the station platform. Apart from the mozzies (like fighter jets), buzzing fluorescent light globes, and a couple of huge ore trains thundering through the station, one can get a fairly good sleep. Make sure you have your insect repellant and some earplugs. The staff will leave you alone if you don't make any trouble."
