What to Expect

The small terminal at Sunshine Coast Airport (code: MCY) is divided into domestic and international areas. Amenities are limited to four eateries, two shops, a newsstand, and free WiFi.

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: next to the News Travels store in the Departures Lounge • near the baggage carousels in Arrivals.

Baby Care Facilities – If you are travelling with an infant, there are baby care rooms equipped with diaper changing stations, diaper disposals, restrooms, microwaves, and comfortable seating for nursing are available in the Parents’ Rooms located at both ends of the airport terminal.

Baggage Trolleys – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage carts are available free of charge.

Drinking Water – Thirsty? Water fountains are available both Landside and Airside.

Duty Free & Shopping – Two clothing stores and one News Travels shop (selling newspapers, gifts, souvenirs, etc.) are available.

Food & Drinks – Food concessions throughout the airport operate with varying schedules. At the time of this update, we are unable to confirm the availability of 24 hour dining. Food options include: Swell Cafe • Sushi Sushi • Sumo Salad • The Glasshouse Bar.

Information Desk – While there is no Information Desk, there is staffed Visitor Information Desk (in Arrivals) that could probably be of assistance.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Mobile Charging – A traveller says there are areas for charging devices. There is one located next to the Swell Cafe in the Departure food court (airside) . (September 2023)

Observation Area – Relax and watch planes taking off and landing from the vantage point of the airport’s observation area. Location: unknown, but it is also accessible to the public.

Passenger Assistance – For assistance in the airport, contact a Sunshine Coast Airport service assistant using one of the white service phones in Departures or Arrivals, or the call button on the parking machines and ticket dispensers.

Postal Services – Drop off your last minute postcards at the airport’s mailbox. Location: outside of the entry door of the departures building (near Virgin check-in).

The airport is open from 4:15AM until one hour after the last flight, Monday through Friday. Open later at 5:15AM on Saturday and Sunday. Overnight stays are not permitted at this airport.

Bus

Some Translink public buses stop at the airport enroute. The bus stop is located to the right of the Arrivals Hall. For more information regarding routes, schedules and fares, visit the Translink website.

Metered taxis are readily available for hire at the taxi rank in front of the Arrivals Hall. Note: An additional AUD $3.00 is added to all fares when taxis pick up passengers from the airport.
