AEX is a pleasantly comfortable albeit newly developed airport. The terminal is modern and reasonably equipped. It is served by Delta/ASA, Continental, and Northwest Airlines. Taxi service is readily available. Ten minutes to Alexandria, a nice city population about 50,000. AEX is the former England Air Force Base and has been transformed into a working industrial park. It has a new Hotel as well as a new full service restaurant near the main terminal and numerous facilities just outside the airport. Multiple car rental services in the terminal. I've been flying in and out of this airport for 13 years and have never encountered a delay that was caused by local service problems."
