Well we decided to save some money and as we had a fairly early flight to San francisco this seemed a good idea. We got the penultimate bus from downtown to the airport and once we got there at about 11pm it was pretty empty. There was 2/3 more arrivals.

In total we saw about 10-15 other people doing the same. One guy was watching films/videos on his laptop, using the power outlets which are easy to find.

The toilets are very clean and open through the night. They also have vending machines on the ground floor. But they are basic so i'd bring some midnight snacks.

We stayed on the first floor by the check-in desks. There were two of us and we had a power outlet and found access to a very good Wi-Fi hook-up. We believe it came from the member's lounge above the check-in desks. Ideal if you can get it. It was attained with an Ipod touch.

There were frequent announcements throughout the night but what do you expect... it's an Airport! You get used to them after a while. There are staff who clean the floors etc. But this is done by around 1/2am. People will arrive from 4:30am onwards. So you can get a few hours sleep. We slept on the floor, using our bags as pillows, as we are hardened youths. If you require extreme comfort i suggest you stay in the Hilton over the road!

In conclusion this was a great ice-breaker into airport sleeping!

Btw. We were in Austin for SXSW and stayed at North Austin Plaza Hotel. We used the Super Shuttle to get there. Recommend all three to people visitng Austin.
