What to Expect
Boise Airport (code: BOI) consists of a modern, three-level single terminal with two concourses (B and C), more than a dozen eateries and shops, and a full-service restaurant and fast food court on the Landside. WiFi is available, and charging stations are in each concourse. There are no private lounges at this airport.
Sleeping in Boise Airport
Boise Airport is open 24 hours a day, but passengers are not allowed to sleep Airside after the last flight for the night arrives and must move to the Landslide until security opens the following day.
This airport is described as being quite comfortable for overnight sleepers, with one of our readers describing his experience here as ‘THE BEST airport sleep I have ever had!’
Locations & Seating
Past travellers spotted a few spots where, with a bit of luck, you may get some rest. Several readers mentioned a quiet corner on the Landside, at the end of the ticket counter. Here, travellers found two 20-feet-long benches without armrests and equipped with power outlets. Another reader mentioned some red-purple benches in the Landside area which could also be a good fit.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airport Hours
The airport is open 24 hours, although food concessions and car rentals have varied hours of operation. The TSA security checkpoints open one hour before the first flight and close 25 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the last flight.
Keep in mind that airline check-in and baggage drop hours vary according to the flight schedule. Check these hours with your airline. If you are in the public area (Landside) you will not be able to get through to the secure area (Airside) until the morning.

Bus
Valley Ride and Greyhound offer regular service to BOI airport. Buses pick-up and drop-off at the purple curb. Valley Ride schedules and maps can be found near the 1st Floor Rotunda elevator.

Ride Sharing
Lyft and Uber pick-up and drop-off passengers at designated areas on the upper curb, east end. The pick-up location is at the “Rideshare Pick-Up Area” shelter on the east end, and drop-off is at the passenger’s specified airline location.
Shared Ride Shuttle
Boise Shuttle Service also offers transportation to and from Boise-area hotels, picking up and dropping off passengers at the green curb.
Sun Valley Express and Salt Lake Express offer scheduled or on-demand shared-ride shuttle service. These shuttles pick-up at the blue curb on the lower level roadway median, across from the outside of the baggage claim area.
Taxi
Metered taxis are readily available at the black curb on the lower level roadway median, across from the outside of the baggage claim area.
Airport Conditions
If you plan to spend the night at the airport, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Temperature – Arrive prepared, just in case. Having a blanket or even a hoodie provides extra warmth if the terminal gets colder.
- Lighting – A few travellers have reported that airport lights stay on all night. Come prepared with eyeshades or something else to cover your eyes, such as a shirt or towel.
- Noise – Some travellers have reported: “House music that constantly plays”. Earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones will help if you’re trying to sleep overnight.
Safety & Security
We have had no reports from travellers commenting on safety issues at Boise Airport. Sleeping in any airport can include a certain level of risk, especially when travelling alone. It’s important to take certain precautions to ensure your safety and the security of your valuables. Here are a few tips:
- Safety First. It’s a good idea to know where the security office is located and look for video cameras where you plan to sleep. You can also ask the security personnel for advice on the safest places to spend the night.
- Don’t Seclude Yourself. If you’re travelling alone, we recommend you stay near other travellers or close to security. This will help you feel more secure and deter potential thieves.
- Hide Your Valuables. It’s also important to hide your valuables. Don’t leave them out in plain view, as this could make you a target for theft. Additionally, if you are a deep sleeper, you may want to padlock your bag to something or sleep with your bag up against a wall to make it harder for someone to access zippers and pockets. We have received reports of sleepers who woke up without their phones and laptop bags. The travellers were left with just their headphones and laptop bag strap.
- Stay Alert. It’s best to stay alert and awake if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Drink coffee or other caffeinated beverages to help you stay awake, and remember that you can always catch up on sleep during your flight. These simple precautions can help you enjoy a safe night at the airport.
