"be sure to buy a ticket for somewhere or else you'll be kicked out" - sergein

i did an allnighter in boston recently and could choose between south station train or bus station. I chose the bus station as it was marginally warmer and the train station seats were those wire mesh things and looked very uncomfortable. At about 11 PM a guard checks out everyone: he was friendly, but i had to show a ticket (i didn't have a bus ticket, but had a train ticket leaving early the next morning). He also asked if i had come in with a bus, and assumed that i had (although the labels on my bags were actually airline labels). So you gotta have a ticket leaving for somewhere in the morning. The seats were (just barely) ok, and i got some sleep. There's an all night McDonald's and very clean bathrooms. It's quite a clean & civilized place (largely because they through out all the street people at 11 PM). I left at 4 AM to go to the train station and it was totally locked u -- although there were a couple of travellers inside doing an all-nighter-- and all around outside were dozens of homeless people sleeping (really COLD!). So my recommendation is if you're cheap --& cold-- in Boston, head for the bus station (but be sure to buy a ticket for somewhere or else you'll be kicked out).
