"I've slept in Fairbanks International. No problems--in fact, the Air North folks actually recommended it, saying 'everyone does it'." (Craig Williams)
"The folks in the office will even give you a little kit with a toothbrush, etc. if your pack didn't arrive on the same plane as you." (Philip Bundman)

This is a beautiful new airport and when we checked our bags in at about 8pm we had a 6 hour wait for our flight out. We'd been in alaska for a few weeks and were very tired from the near round the clock daylight that summer offers here.
I actually asked at check in where we can try and get some quiet rest. You can try upstairs at the departures terminal but this is busy with lots of people waiting for their flights. The best bet is down from check in at the arrivals terminal. Just look for the big stuffed grizzly bear and wolf and go to the back dark corner.
There are 3 options for sleeping - 1. on the floor; 2. on the 4 seater comfy padded chairs - no arm rests across 4 seats; 3. on the very long but unpadded wooden benches.
The coffee shop upstairs closes around 9ish and the "bar" and bookshop did not close while we were there.

Fairbanks International opened a brand new terminal in May 2008. There is not a lot of traffic at the airport overnight, so if you happen to get stuck here, there are plenty of quiet, semi-isolated locations you can get a decent night's sleep. My only complaint was that the old terminal had some 5-seat benches without armrests, so you could actually stretch out and get very good sleep; not so anymore (though the new seating is more comfortable).
