"I had to spend the night at the Pensacola, Florida airport recently when my wife missed the last flight out of Atlanta. Rather then go home and return for a 6 a.m. arrival I asked an airport policeman if it would be o.k. to spend the night, he said that there was no problem and he would be by now and then to check on myself and a few other passengers; although there was never any trouble. After 11p.m. there is complete quiet although you must stretch out on the carpeted floor near the gift shop. I got a good sleep and was never bothered. A well run airport with good security and an excellent restaurant. Cheap local bus transit to Pensacola beach and downtown. There is a very large shopping mall very close to the airport, also a large hospital, Sacred Heart, close by if you want to try that for a night's rest. Pensacola does have it's bad sections, so check with natives before wandering around, but the areas that I have mentioned are pretty safe."
