Point Pleasant Train Station

Traveller Comments....

"There were several bikes left in the anti-theft rack, parked there without chains.  I was able to borrow one of these and go off in search of food, and was able to locate a bread truck and score a few rolls off a benevolent delivery guy." (Jack)

"July 2000, I missed the last train home and wound up having to spend the night in the Point Pleasant train station. Its been a pretty slow season for the shore evidently because by 1 am almost everything was closed for the night, with the exception of a convenience store that started to lose its charm after an hour or so... and even that small distraction boarded up for the night at about 2. Sleep in a New Jersey train station is I think impossible, the only options were the metal benches, or the floor. Neither of which were really good alternatives. Eventually I got a few hours shut eye on one of the benches, waking up hungry at about 4 am. With nowhere in sight to get food, and an hour and a half until the next train arrived. The one perk to the Point Pleasant station is the lax attitude the locals seem to take towards bicycle theft. There were several bikes left in the anti-theft rack, parked there without chains. I was able to borrow one of these and go off in search of food, and was able to locate a bread truck and score a few rolls off a benevolent delivery guy. Then there was the joy of getting on the morning train to New York a disheveled mess in the company of the spotless morning commuters. so in closing ... the Point Pleasant train station will make you beg for food, steal bikes and look like a vagrant. Enjoy!"
