What to Expect
Roanoke Airport (code: ROA) consists of a small, modern terminal with a single concourse and six gates. There is a restaurant and gift shop on both the airside and landside of the terminal. WiFi is available and there are several dedicated charging stations on the airside. There are no private lounges at this airport.
Sleeping in Roanoke Airport
This airport posts operating hours of 3:30AM-1:00AM, but its website notes that “if there are passengers in the airport, we’re open.” That said, we do not have any recent sleep-related airport reviews. Airport Ambassadors – Look for the volunteers wearing red vests. Location: Landside, across from the US Airways/American ticket counter.
ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside, 2nd Floor, to the left of the restaurant entrance.
Baby Care Facilities – A family restroom is available on the second floor, next to the gift shop.
Baggage Carts – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage carts are available.

Drinking Water – Thirsty? Water fountains are available both Landside and Airside.
Duty Free & Shopping – At the time of this update, there are no duty free shops available at Roanoke Airport. Hudson News is the only shopping option at the airport. They have a store both Landside and Airside and both locations open one hour before the first flight and close after last flight departure.
Food & Drinks – McAlister’s is the airport’s sole dining option, offering a full-service restaurant/bar both landside and airside. Landside opens at 4:30AM, while Airside opens at 4:30AM. Both locations close after last flight departure. Vending machines are also available.
Information Desk – Not available.
Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.
Medical Services – Four Automated External Defibrillators (AED) throughout the airport.
Mobile Charging – There are charging stations located Airside at Gates 2, 3, 4 and 5. See Workstations section below for more options.
Pet Relief Area – Travelling with a 4 legged companion? The airport has an area for pets to stretch their legs, drink water and take their potty breaks. Location: Landside. Note: A pet relief area is available airside for service animals.
Postal Services – Drop off your last minute postcards at the airport’s mailbox. Location: Landside, 1st Floor, at the center of the terminal.

Bus
The Smart Way commuter bus offers service between downtown Roanoke and Virginia Tech Squires Student Center, via Roanoke Airport. The service is not available on Sundays;however, with pre-arrangements other shuttles services can be used. For more information, visit the Smart Way Bus website.
