Syracuse Bus Station

"Arriving past midnight in Syracuse, NY, I found the hostel shut. I knocked quietly and threw small stones at the windows in the politest way I knew how but nobody answered. None of the locals or staff in the nearest bar were impressed enough by my English accent to put me up (though it worked in NYC) so, once it shut at 4am, I tried the bus station. The seats, bolted together and with armrests for little TVs (25c a pop), are not comfy but vended snacks and drinks, and dining space, were available. No one bothered me, lockers were available for my gear, and watching the Amish family dozing opposite kept me occupied. It was warm enough too - outside (around thanksgiving time) was the coldest I have EVER been. Speaking of thanksgiving, don't sleep at the airport at this time - I got a free meal, delicious and hugely filling (seconds allowed), at the NY IYH."
