What to Expect

Livingstone Airport (code: LVI) has a small, recently renovated terminal that handles a few regional flights. Facilities are limited to a couple eateries and shops, and free WiFi helps pass the time. For added comfort while you wait, there are a few lounges.  One lounge has showers for freshening up. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for location and access information.

Sleeping in Livingstone Airport

Spending the night here is not possible as the airport is closed from 6:00PM until 7:00AM. For uninterrupted sleep, hotels and guesthouses are nearby. See our Airport Hotels section below for more info or read some traveller airport reviews for more tips.

There are no hotels at Livingstone Airport, but you will find a few guest houses and local hotels nearby.  The drive to the city center is 10 minutes away so you don’t necessarily need to stay at the airport. SIM Cards – A reader tells us “there are a number of small mobile phone stores immediately outside the airport, where it is possible to buy local SIM cards, data and airtime”. (September 2022)

Smoking – Smoking is prohibited in the airport. However, there is a smoking lounge in the international departure zone and designated smoking areas outside the terminal building.

Taxis

Taxis are readily available for hire in the ground transportation area. Official taxis have an orange band to easily identify them. The fare for a ride to the city center starts at around K250.00 (about US$25.00).
