What to Expect

Currently, a new sustainable terminal is under construction and scheduled to open in April 2021. A small variety of shops, restaurants and free WiFi are available to help pass your time.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. If sleeping in the Guwahati Airport sounds like a nightmare, there are transit rooms inside the terminal:

  • Transit Rooms – There are resting rooms available for transit passengers for Rs1,000/person. Location: Arrivals area.  No additional information is available.

Pay-per-use, Single Visit Passes & Lounge Memberships

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there are lounges that you can enter by purchasing a lounge pass or through a lounge membership program. Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

  • Primus Lounge – Location: Domestic Departures, Airside, Ground Floor, near Gate 2. Lounge Access: Prepaid lounge pass (US$19 – 3 hours) • Lounge membership programs.

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs, operated by State Bank of India and South India Bank, are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: inside and outside of the terminal.

Baby Care Facilities – According to information we have, there is an Infant Room, where mothers can breastfeed in privacy.  The room is said to be located in the Departures area.  A reviewer (January 2020) says this information is not actually correct, so we’re not sure if it is just hidden or there is indeed no Infant Room.  If you can confirm this information, click here to update this guide.

Baggage Trolleys – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage trolleys are available free of charge.

Currency Exchange – Services are available in the Arrivals Area.

Drinking Water – Thirsty? Drinking water stations are available free of charge.

Duty Free & Shopping – A few souvenir shops and a newsstand are available in the Departures area.

Food & Drinks – A restaurant and a snack bar are available. Vending machines can also be found throughout the airport.

Information Desk – While we don’t have any information about whether an Information Desk is available, there is a Tourist Information Area that could be of assistance. Location: Arrivals.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Medical Services – The First Aid Room is located in Arrivals.

Mobile Charging – Free mobile charging stations are available. Locations: unknown.

Showers – Not available.

SIM Cards – A reader has asked us to include where to buy SIM Cards. If you know, click here to update this guide.

Smoking – A dedicated smoking lounge is available. Location: Unknown.

WiFi/Internet – WiFi is available for up to 30 minutes. The service may be limited to the Central Concourse area.
