What to Expect

Port Blair Airport (code: IXZ) has a small terminal that connects to several destinations on India’s mainland. A new terminal is currently under construction, with a scheduled opening for summer 2020. Expect hot, humid temperatures and slow security processes inside the airport. Facilities are limited to a restaurant, snack bar, and a couple small shops. We are unable to confirm if WiFi is available.

Sleeping in Port Blair Airport

We do not yet have any sleep-related airport reviews, but it seems this airport may close nightly.  Have a backup plan if you’re planning to spend the night.  For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are nearby, including one that rents day rooms for transit passengers. ATMs / Cash Machines –   Need cash? ATMs are available. Machines are operated State Bank of India and Central Bank of India. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside.

Baby Care Facilities – If you are travelling with an infant, there is a baby care room for breastfeeding and diaper-changing. Location: Departure Hall.

Baggage Trolleys – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage trolleys are available free of charge.

Drinking Water – Thirsty? There are drinking water facilities available both Landside and Airside.

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free is available at the airport as well as a souvenir type shop.

Food & Drinks – There is a restaurant and snack bar available in the departures area.

Information Desk – If you have any questions, visit the airport’s information desk for assistance. Locations: Arrivals area.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Medical Services – If you feel unwell or injure yourself, first aid services are available. Location: Landside.

Mobile Charging – Mobile charging stations are available both Landside and Airside.
