What to Expect

curacao airport guideCuraçao Airport (code: CUR) operates a small, two-level terminal with 12 gates and a half dozen or so small eateries and shops. WiFi is available to help pass the time. For additional comfort, a fee-based first class lounge is available which offers showers! See Airport Lounges in the guide below for locations and rates.

Sleeping in Curaçao Airport

According to a traveller who attempted to sleep overnight, they were not permitted and had to leave the airport grounds.  For uninterrupted sleep, there is a hotel adjacent to the airport and others nearby. In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. When the prospect of sleeping on the floor or in a chair is giving you nightmares, there is good news for those of you who are looking to sleep at Curaçao Airport in comfort.   If you are on a layover, you will have to pass through immigration/security as there is no transit hotel. A number of nearby hotels can be found within a 15 minute drive from the airport.

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover

ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available 24 hours a day. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside, Arrivals area and Dpartures lounges.

Baggage Trolleys – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage trolleys are available free of charge.

Banking Services – Maduro Curiels Bank (MCB) offers full-service banking at their onsite branch. Location: Arrivals Hall, near the fountain plaza Hours: 7:00AM – 3:30PM.

Currency Exchange – USD, Euro and ANG (Antillean Guilders) can be exchanged at one of two locations: Arrivals Hall (open from 1:00PM – 5:00PM) and next to MCB Bank (open 7:30AM – 7:00PM Mon-Fri, 7:30AM – 7:00PM Sat and 7:30AM – 5:00PM Sun).

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty-Free shopping is available Penha (Arrivals and Departures, after baggage claim). Shops selling souvenirs, electronics, clothing and edibles are also available in landside and airside areas of the terminal. Shops, including duty-free, are open from 5:30AM or 6:00AM until last flight of the day.

Food & Drinks – Food concessions throughout the airport operate on various schedules with many open from 5:30AM until last flight of the day. Food options include:

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Luggage Wrapping – Seal & Go offers services. Location: Landside. Hours: 6:00AM – 8:00PM.

Medical Services – The airport offers a First Aid office (hours are according to flights) as well as a Private Medical Clinic (hours are not known).

Pharmacy – Curacare Health and Beauty offers pharmacy services. Location: Landside. Hours: 7:00AM – 8:00PM.

WiFi/Internet – Free WiFi is available at Curaçao Airport. Additionally, there are ten pay-per-use internet kiosks available, with two in the main hall (ground floor) and eight in the departures area (1st floor). For access, purchase a voucher at one of the Cafe Barista locations.
