    Moscow Domodedovo

International A/B – There are two tails of the story. Once you’ve crossed migrations, you are “in the gates” there are two possibilities; you are sent to gates 1-12 in which each has a different lounge, where it would be great to catch some sleep. They have plugs and USBs to charge your computer or phone. They also do have free wifi. If you are sent to gates 13-22 you’ll mostly feel like in a bus station, with limited places to seat, and very bad restaurants/food options. If you are not yet airborne, meaning you are before the check in counter, that’s a nightmare in all senses. As in all of Russia, you need to go to security before entering the airport building. It’s usual to find a long queue there. There are no clear screen as of where to do the check in, so you’ll just have to walk long distances. If you fly, e.g, Star Alliance, say LH, OS, LX or SN, check is is mostly close to 78-82, while A3 is 76-77. But some days, those are for S7 or some russian unknown airline. Many small airlines have a very small counter (usually is 01, or if not 139/140) which is for “random airlines” (like in my case flying Turukhanavia). There is too much people, floor tends to be dirty, toilettes are limited, and the personal is unfriendly. Though, if you go upstairs (no need to go through security yet), some restaurants (including KFC and Burger King) offer you somewhere to spend some hours.

    Not so bad in Domodedovo

    01.01.2016

Pros: I was in winter and it is hot inside.

Cons: You have to sleep sit in your bench, not on the floor

(Review by jorge sanchez) I have read another review from a traveler and I do not agree. People are friendly and many understand english. Nobody will bother you while sleeping since there are many russians who have to take a flight early in the morning and all sleep in the airport. The Police will not ask your passport or anything, they just let you sleep in peace. Some restaurants might be expensive in the airport but some other are cheap by European standards. Mu Mu restaurant is the cheapest. Otherwise you just walk 200 meters outside of the airport, and you will find a restaurant (stalovaya is called in Russian) in an office of airline companies, on the ground floor. I had dinner there for 200 rubles, and I ordered two dishes (Borsch soup and Russian pelmenie, plus a juice). In Mu Mu restaurant inside the airport perhaps you will pay 400 rubles for the same. Inside the airport there are machines selling coffee for 90 rubles and tea (chai) for only 50 rubles. 1 euro was in january 2016 about 80 rubles, so it was cheap. Drinks are not expensive in those machines. Do not change money in that airport, because the exchange rate is low. Better go to downtown Moscow. If you do not have money for the bus to Domodedovkaya Metro station (120 rubles) then change little in the airport, about 5 euro only, just for the transport, and then change more in downtown. There is a internet service with computers, they charge about 200 rubles per hour.

In the ladside of airport it's officially forbidden to sleep… Police and security will wake you up. Airside zone has few seats, so some asengers even can't seat, and seats are not comfortable to sleep

    overcrowded

    01.07.2015

    Pros: restaurants and shops

    Cons: too busy

(Review by lynn2011) very comfortable couches on airside, but was not allowed to stay there. So the main lobby on landside is overcrowded. It is difficult to find seats; I found some near some restaurants, and could rest a bit; but it is quite busy to really sleep and when you go to the toilet, your seat might be taken.
