What to Expect

Aarhus Airport consists of a small, renovated terminal with a restaurant, cafe and duty free shop. WiFi is available and not much else. There are no private lounges at this airport.

Where to Sleep

The airport’s terminal building opens 90 minutes before the first departure and closes 30 minutes after the last arrival. The airport’s website notes that “staying overnight is not possible at the airport.” If you have experiences with this airport, please write a review to help future travellers! Good to Know

The terminal includes a zen-like gardens area on the airside, which includes “a beautiful plantation, rippling water, and more cozy hooks where you can sit undisturbed and enjoy life before calling out.”

Aarhus Airport Information

In this guide we may refer to locations as "landside" and "airside". Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

If sleeping in Aarhus Airport does not appeal to you, the closest hotel to the airport is Motel Ebeltoft, about 14 minutes south. There are more hotels if you head back to Aarhus (about 40 minutes west of the airport).

This is a small airport with nothing to keep you occupied in the event of a delay. Best you bring your own book and laptop loaded with movies to keep yourself occupied.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport


The airport is connected by a bus service to/from Aarhus via the Airport Express. The bus arrives at the airport 30 minutes before scheduled departures, if you require longer be sure to take an earlier bus. Adult one-way fare is 115 DKK. Tickets are sold on the bus, and payable by cash (Danish Crowns, Swedish Crowns, British Pounds, US Dollars, Euro) or credit cards. Car Rentals

Onsite car rental agencies include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt.


Taxis are available just outside of the Arrivals area on a 24-hour basis. All taxis are metered, and reservations are not required. One way to/from Aarhus is estimated at 650 DKK (as of the time of this Nov 2017 update).
