Airport Overview

To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, we are here to give you the low-down on what travellers have reported back to us about their time at Bordeaux-Mérignac International Airport.

What to Expect

Bordeaux-Mérignac International Airport consists of two interconnected terminals (Halls A and B) and a separate Terminal “Billi,” that services low-cost carriers. There are a dozen or so shops and eateries in the buildings, mostly located on the landside, as well as airside duty-free shopping. All shops and eateries close at 9:00PM, so plan accordingly if you intend to stay the night. WiFi is available, but charging outlets are described as being inconveniently located away from seating. Bathrooms stay open all night, but there are reports that they are unlit and mixed opinions about cleanliness. For additional services, economy class passengers can pay to access the airport’s private lounge. See Airport Lounges in the airport guide below for locations and rates.

Where to Sleep

Sleeping in this airport has been referred to as bare bones, with the suggestion that overnight sleepers bring everything they might need—sleeping bag, travel mat, eyeshade, earplugs/noise-cancelling headphones, etc.—to ensure a decent night’s sleep. Don’t plan on finding comfortable seating, and expect noise from the cleaning machines and cold temperatures. For uninterrupted sleep, there are hotels near the airport. See Airport Hotels in the airport guide below.
