Security ignored us completely, and we found a set of chairs without armrests in the corner of check-in hall A. My friend slept on the chairs, i slept on the floor, both of us in our sleeping bags. – jollyroger

LBA Airport Overview

leeds airport guideTo help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Leeds Airport.

What to Expect

Leeds Airport (code: LBA) has a single terminal that primarily handles low-cost and seasonal European flights. Facilities are clean and basic, with a few eateries and shops, but none are open 24 hours, so plan ahead if you stay the night. Free WiFi helps pass the time. For added comfort while you wait, economy class passengers can pay to enter three airport lounges. See Airport Lounges in the guide below for location and access information.

Sleeping in Leeds Airport

Overnight sleepers must stay landside. If you’re already airside, you’ll have to exit to the landside and re-enter when security opens in the morning. The Arrivals Hall is particularly popular because the lights are dim, the temperature is warm, and there is a hot beverage vending machine. Still, you’ll likely wind up on the floor, so bring a sleeping bag or blanket. For uninterrupted sleep, hotels are nearby, including one on airport grounds. See the Airport Hotels section below for locations, or read traveller airport reviews for more tips.

To help us keep this guide up-to-date, you can add or update information or write a review to submit airport tips and photos. You can also visit the airport’s website for current information.  For more airport information, continue scrolling down to explore more in our Leeds Airport Guide.

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.  For more information on Europe’s Schengen Area, click here.
