What to Expect

The small terminal at Lugano Airport (code: LUG) primarily handles commuter flights to Zurich. Facilities include three eateries and a few shops, open according to the day’s flight schedule. Free WiFi helps pass the time. For added comfort while you wait, Economy Class passengers can pay to enter an airport lounge. If sleeping in Lugano Airport sounds like a nightmare, there are several small B&Bs and restaurants with lodging attached within a short distance of the airport. More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover

ATMs / Cash Machines – Not available.

Conference Facilities – Aeroclub Lugano is opposite the terminal and can accommodate up to 30 people. It can be booked in advance online.

Currency Exchange – There is no currency exchange in the terminal. The nearest one is a 5-minute walk in the World Trade Center.

Disabled Services – People with reduced mobility must provide the airport with 48 hours’ notice to ensure proper support.

Duty-Free & Shopping – Luxury Travel Shops offer duty-free shopping, with a location in Departures (open for each scheduled flight departure) and Arrivals (open for each scheduled flight arrival). A newsstand is located just outside of the terminal.

Food & Drink – Three dining options are available: A snack bar in the departure lounge is open 40 minutes before each scheduled flight departure • Cafe Dell’Aeroporto and The Aviator can be found outside the terminal. Hours: Unknown.

Information Desk – An Information Desk is available at the airport operated by Lugano Tourism. Location: unknown. Hours: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Luggage storage is available. Location: Landside. Rates: fees start at CHF10/day – CHF50/week. Hours: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Daily) or 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM by appointment.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Car Rentals

Car rentals are available, and rental car pick-up is only 10 meters from the terminal. The following companies have desks at the airport: Europcar • Jet Car Rent.

Hotel Shuttles

Shuttle

Shuttle Bus Sagl offers regular service between the airport, city center, and main railway station. Additional stops at hotels can be requested. Departures are scheduled according to flight arrival and departure times. At the time of this update, the adult fare starts at CHF 8.

Taxi

Taxis are available daily from 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM. Estimated one-way fares between Lugano airport and the city center or main railway are CHF 30 – 35.

Train

FLP Lugano-Ponte Tresa trains offer frequent daily service between the airport and the main railway station in Lugano. The airport train stop is at Agno, just a 10-minute walk from the terminal. Trains depart every 15 minutes from 6:25 AM – 8:10 PM on weekdays and every 30 minutes on Sundays and bank holidays.
