What to Expect

palanga airport guidePalanga Airport (code: PLQ) has two small, separate terminals: the older South Terminal handles Schengen Zone flights and a new North Terminal which serves non-Schengen destinations. Facilities are limited to an eatery, a shop, and an airside bar. Free WiFi is available to help pass the time.

Sleeping in Palanga Airport

In this guide we may refer to locations as “landside” and “airside”. Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Location: Arrival 2 Hall.

Baby Care Facilities – If you are travelling with an infant, there are 2 baby care rooms for breastfeeding and diaper-changing. Location: Departures Hall.

Baggage Carts – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage carts are available free of charge in the Arrivals Hall and Waiting Areas.

Currency Exchange – Medicinos Bankas offers full-service banking and currency exchange. Hours: 9:00AM – 7:00PM (Mon & Fri) • 9:00AM – 5:00PM (Tues, Thurs & Sat) • 9:00AM – 9:00PM (Wed & Sun).

Drinking Water – Thirsty? In response to traveller complaints about the price of water, the airport sells 0.5l bottled water for €1,00 (or less). Locations: Global Travel Supply Palanga and Café Riktė.

Duty Free & Shopping – Duty-Free shopping is available in both Schengen and Non-Schengen Zones.

Food & Drinks – At the time of this update, there are no 24 hour concessions available. Here are the airport options:

  • Landside: Mama’s Café.
  • Airside: Bar – Coffee Shop • RIKTĖ Coffee Café.

Lost Luggage – Go to the Ground Handling Agency in the passenger terminal.

Luggage Storage & Lockers – Not available.

Postal Services – Drop off your last minute postcards at the airport’s mailbox. Location: Landside, next to Entrance 2 of the passenger terminal.

Medical First Aid – Report to the Airport Customer Service Office for assistance.

Smoking – Smoking is prohibited inside the airport. There is a designated smoking area outside the terminal.

Bus

Shuttle Bus

A scheduled shuttle bus service connects PLQ airport to Klaipēda bus station.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available in front of the terminal. Total trip times in one direction: to/from Palanga city center 10 minutes; to/from Klaipēda 30 minutes; to/from Liepāja (Latvia) is 1 hour 20 minutes.
