  • A small single-terminal international airport with a limited variety of overpriced shops and food concessions. According to one reviewer, cigarettes are not sold in the duty-free shop.

Where to Sleep

  • Although no specific sleeping spot was mentioned, reviewers describe their overnight stays as quiet and comfortable. Padded, armrest-free benches are available, the airport staff is accommodating, and lights are dimmed or turned off between 1:00AM - 4:00AM. Have a sleep mask, travel blanket and earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones handy for added comfort and relaxation!

Palermo Airport Information

In this guide we may refer to locations as "landside" and "airside". Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

Airport Lounges

If you are an economy class traveller, you can enter these lounges at Palermo airport either by purchasing a lounge pass or through a membership program. Visit the individual lounge page for more details (ie. facilities, hours, pass and membership information):

  • Gesap VIP Lounge - Location: Landside, 1st Floor. Hours: 5:30AM - 9:30PM (Daily). Lounge Access: Buy a lounge pass (£22.00 - 24 hour advance purchase is required)

Airport Hotels

If sleeping in Palermo Airport does not appeal to you, there are hotels near the airport:

  • Hotel Magaggiari - (15 minutes from the airport) Airport shuttle service is availableupon request between the hours of 8:00AM - 11:30PM. Cost is approx. 25,00€ each way.
  • Florio Park Hotel - (15 minutes from the airport) Airport transfers can be provided upon request. Cost is approx. 30,00€ each way for 2 people.

More Services, Facilities & Things To Do On A Layover At The Airport

  • ATMs / Cash Machines - There are four ATMs, one of which dispenses foreign currencies. Location: Airside and landside, on the 1st and 2nd floors.
  • Banking - Banca Nuova offers full-service banking. Location: 1st Floor, Departures Area. Hours: 8:30AM - 1:30PM and 2:55PM - 4:25PM. Closed on bank holidays.
  • Car Rentals - Avis • Europcar • Hertz • Holiday Car Rental • Maggiore • National • Dollar • Thrifty • Locauto • Sixt • Siciliy Rent Car.
  • Currency Exchange - A Bureau de Change is available in Check-in A. Hours: 7:00AM - 9:30PM.
  • Duty Free & Shopping - Duty Free is available as well there are a few shops available on the second level.
  • Food & Drinks - Food concessions throughout the airport operate on varying schedules, with some open as early as 5:00AM. At the time of this update, there are no 24-hour dining options.
  • Information Desk - Location: Arrivals Area, landside, Ground Floor.
  • Luggage Storage / Lockers - not available
  • Luggage Wrapping - Available landside on the 1st floor, near Check-in B. Fee: €10 per bag.
  • Medical Services - Urgent and emergency medical care is available in Check-in B, on the 1st floor. Hours: Open 24 hours.
  • Mobile Charging - Two “recharge point” booths are available in the departures lounges.
  • Pharmacy - Location: Departure Hall, 1st Floor. Hours: 8:00AM - 8:00PM.
  • Showers - Not available.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Airport Buses

Autolinee Prestia e Comandè offers service to and from Palermo, with departures available every 30 minutes during operating hours. Bus fare is € 6,30 per person (one way), or € 11,00 per person (roundtrip), sold online or on the bus. Airport buses are also available to/from Trapani, Agrigento, Porto Empedocle, Sciacca, Ribera, and points in between. Tickets for these buses are only sold onboard.

Metered taxis are readily available for hire at the taxi stand near the Arrivals exit. Flat rates are available to key points in the city. Also near the taxi stand is two platforms for shared taxis, which depart with a minimum of 4 passengers. The fare for a shared taxi is € 8 per passenger.
