To help you plan your layover or overnight sleepover, here is a quick run-down about what to expect during your time at Rotterdam Airport.
What to Expect
Rotterdam Airport (code: RTM) has a small, modern terminal that handles seasonal and leisure routes. Facilities include a restaurant (temporarily closed), a cafe, and a few shops, though nothing is open 24 hours, so plan ahead if you’re staying overnight. The airport has a silent policy – announcements are made in the event of delays (bad weather) or emergencies only. Gate/flight announcements are not made over the public address system. The hotel next door also has a restaurant. Free WiFi helps pass the time.
Sleeping in Rotterdam Airport
Overnight campers have no problem here but will likely wind up landside, in the big drafty central hall. Benches are located behind the elevator and near the doors to the departure area. Bring a sleeping bag or extra layers to combat cold temps. For uninterrupted sleep, two hotels are in short walking distance. ATMs / Cash Machines – Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Landside, at the currency exchange office.
Baby Care Facilities – Baby change facilities are available: Landside, look for the room behind the elevator in the central hall. Airside, you will find a room beside the Airport Shop. Microwaves are included for warming baby bottles.
Baggage Trolleys – Need a hand with your luggage? Baggage trolleys are available in the main hall and in parking lots. Rate: You will need to insert a 50 cent (euro) coin that will be returned when you return the cart.
Currency Exchange – Travelex is available for currency exchange, providing change, etc. Location: Landside. Hours: 5:30AM – 7:00PM (Mon – Fri) • 10:00AM – 5:00PM (Sat & Sun).
Duty Free & Shopping – Duty Free is available airside. Hours: 5:30AM – 8:30PM. There is also a convenience shop landside (shop closes at 7:00PM every day except Sundays and Saturdays when it closes at 6:00PM) and a kiosk airside (open according to flight schedule).
Food / Beverages – At the time of this update there are no 24-hour food and beverage concessions available. Here is a list of options at the airport:

Smoking – Smoking is permitted in designated areas only. There are two smoking areas landside, one outside the terminal building and the other on the terrace of De Horizon restaurant. An Airside location is available at the Terrace.
Terrace – Location: Access via Restaurant de Horizon. Fees: Free.

The Central Hall is open 24 hours a day. Airside only remains open according to flight schedule.

Rotterdam airport is served by the following airlines: Air France • British Airways • Corendon • Freebird • JetAirFly • Pegasus • Transavia • TUIFly.
Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport
Airport Shuttle
Airport Shuttle route 50 links the airport to the Hague. Fare is payable via OV-chipkaart. OV-chipkaarts are sold at the airport, ticket machines and bookstores.
Bus
Bus 33 travels to Rotterdam Central Station and to Metro Station Meijersplein. From Meijersplein station, you can get to Rotterdam Central Station via RandstadRail in 7 minutes, and to The Hague Central Station in 27 minutes. Bus line 37 connects passengers to Delft Central Station. The bus runs directly from The Hague Leyenburg via Delft Central Station to the airport. Fares are payable via OV-chipkaart, or directly to the driver for a slightly higher cost. For more information, visit the RET website.
