  • A small, but modern international airport with one main passenger terminal (Terminal 1) and a smaller second terminal with limited amenities, used for charter flights during ski season (Terminal 2).

Salzburg Airport Information

In this guide we may refer to locations as "landside" and "airside". Landside is the public area of the terminal located in the non-secure zone, before security. Airside is the secure area of the terminal that you must reach by going through security.

Regardless of what class of service you are flying, there is a lounge that you can enter by paying at the door. Visit the individual lounge page for more details about the lounge itself and to also find out how you can gain lounge access with just an economy class ticket!

Airport Hotels

If sleeping in Salzburg Airport does not appeal to you, there are hotels near the airport:

  • airporthotel Salzburg - (2 minute walk from the airport) Located 500m from the Arrivals Hall. Cross parking place number 3.
  • Star Inn Hotel - (15 minute walk or 4 min ride from the airport) A budget hotel located 500m from the terminal. No airport shuttle.
  • Austria Trend Hotel Salzburg West- (5 minute walk or 2 min ride from the airport) Free airport shuttle.
  • Hotel Himmelreich - (8 minute walk or 3 min ride from the airport) Airport shuttle service to/from airport is free whenever possible. Otherwise it is € 7.00 per person, one way.
  • Hotel Salzburg - (15 minute walk or 2 min ride from the airport) No airport shuttle.

  • ATMs / Cash Machines - Need cash? ATMs are available. Fees may apply, so be sure to check your bank’s fee schedule and your daily withdrawal limit if you are travelling internationally. You may also want to notify your bank of your travel plans. Locations: Sparkasse Bank.
  • Airport Tours - Find out what happens at the airport during a behind-the-scenes airport tour. Tours are conducted in German only and must be pre-booked through Besucherservice..
  • Baby Care Facilities - Baby Change Facilities are available both Landside and Airside of the lower levels of Terminal 1 and 2.
  • Children's Play Area - Locations: 1st Floor, Self-Service Restaurant "Panorama Mark Place" • Terminal 2, transit hall.
  • Currency Exchange - Yes, available at the Sparkasse Bank. Location: Landside. Hours: 9:00AM - 2:00PM (Mon - Sat) and 9:00AM - 12:00PM (Sun).
  • Duty Free & Shopping - Duty Free is available as well as a Kiosk selling newspapers, snacks, etc.
  • Food & Drinks - At the time of this update there were no 24-hour food and beverage concessions. Landside offers five options including the Coffeeshop which is open 4:30AM - last flight. Airside offers two options including the Marktcafe which is also open 4:30AM - last flight.
  • Luggage Storage & Lockers - Location: Terminal 1, landside, walk towards Terminal 2. Rates: 4 Euros per item per 24 hours. Hours: unknown.
  • Medical Services - A First Aid Station is available. Location: Terminal 1, 1st Floor, Entrance A. Hours: 5:30AM - 11:00PM daily.
  • Mobile Charging - At the time of this update, we did not have any information about mobile charging availability. If you know, write a review or email us at guides@sleepinginairports.com.
  • Rest Zones - Not available.
  • Showers - Not available.

Airport Transportation: Getting To/From The Airport

Bus

The airport is well connected to the public transportation system. Whether you are looking for a bus to the city centre, the local train station (Bus no 2), Bavaria or Tyrol, there is probably an option for you. For more information, visit the Salzburg Airport website.

Car Rentals

The following car rental agencies are available onsite on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park: Avis/Budget, Buchbinder, Europcar, Hertz, Megadrive Autovermietung,Sixt and Sunny Cars.

Shuttles

Several companies offer shared-ride door-to-door service between the airport and hotels, ski resorts or destinations beyond.

Taxi

Taxi stands are available in front of the airport terminal and Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (main railway station). Journey time between the airport and railway station is about 15 - 20 minutes.
